DESCRIPTION

Pioneer Officer's Pickelhaube in extremely fine condition. The Pioneers wore silver fittings on their helmets with the exception of the line eagle and the stars at the spike base, which were gilt. The helmet body is in much better condition than usually found, and both the front and rear visors are still tightly sewn to the helmet body. Officer's cockades with correct flat chinscales, as worn by the Infantry. The helmet retaints its Trichter and black animal hair brush, which is still full.  The officer's calfskin and silk lining is intact. The rear star for the Trichter base is missing.  The helmet also comes with its original Trichter and brush cylindrical leatherette covered case. Some of the fabric edging has split as can be seen in the images, and it has lost its bottom panel. Scarce helmet, especially in this condition and with the dress accoutrements.
