DESCRIPTION

An outstanding sword consisting of a model 1889 degen, with the unique feature of an etched blade from 1930!  The degen itself is in fine condition, showing age and wear commensurate with a sword that's over 100 years old.  Nickel plated scabbard shows a grey patina throughout.  Heavy brass fittings are deeply toned.  Portepee and hangers are present, and show minor age.  The blade is what's so special about this piece.  It features a multi-line presentation on one side, and a floral etch on the other.  The presentation side indicates that this was a gift given to a Hauptmann Kohlmann by his friends in 1930!  Definitely worthy of further study, and a research project with excellent potential for further identification of this officer.
