DESCRIPTION

A rare December 7, 1941 Pearl Harbor awarded Purple Heart in its original presentation case. The Purple Heart was awarded posthumously to Seaman 1st Class Joseph Schdowski and is engraved with his name and rank. Joseph Schdowski was a native of North Dakota and was serving on the USS Arizona during the Japanese attack on the morning of December 7. He was listed as 'missing in action or lost at sea' and his gravesite is listed as the Tablets of the Missing at the Honolulu memorial, Honolulu Hawai'i. The medal is in excellent condition showing only normal age and light handling. The ribbon is mounted with a wrap around brooch. Blue leatherette covered hard case. Very difficult to find, and a very historical award.
