Service tunic is constructed of field grey wool/rayon twill with dark green wool collar. The tabs and boards are the subdued field style with medium-dark green Waffenfarbe for Gebirgs (Mountain Troops).  Hand embroidered breast eagle has some mothing to its dark green wool border.  The right sleeve has an embroidered Ski-Jäger insignia.  This style of Ski-Jäger badge is controversial, as some collectors feel only the BeVo construction types are original, some feel that the lack of period photographic evidence means they didn't exist pre-1945, and some feel that they did exist but were never widely distributed. This example appears to be hand embroidered on dark green badge cloth and hand stitched to the sleeve. There are loops for a ribbon bar and one badge on the breast pocket, as well as an Iron Cross II. Class ribbon properly applied through the button hole.  The tunic is lined with artificial silk. There is a moth nip in one shoulder board's underlay and the tunic shows normal age and use. There is fading to the body of the tunic, which is not readily apparent except for the fact that there are slightly darker silhouettes showing where the officer's belt was worn and the ribbon bar and badge.  Because of the different opinions regarding the Ski-Jäger insignia in general, we can't guarantee its pre-1945 provenance, however, aside from this sleeve insignia, our guarantee does cover the rest of the tunic and insignia. 36 small
